TOURIST ATTRACTIONS OF NORTHERN CEBU

Virgin Beach Resort Cebu Is A Great Place For Discovering The Main Tourist Attractions Of Northern Cebu!

Bogo City, 20 km or 20 min.

Rizal Park, Bogo City, Cebu, PhilippinesRizal Park, Bogo City, Cebu, Philippines
Bogo City is the main market town of the North.  Bogo has several department stores, supermarkets, restaurants, banks with international ATMs, 4 colleges, pension houses, huge public market, public pier, boats going to Leyte and Masbate, parks, main plaza, museum with library, San Vicente Parish Church, Verallo Memorial Hospital, doctors, dentists and more!

Virgin Mary Shrine, Lapaz, Bogo City, 25 km or 25 min.

Shrine of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal is located on a hill overlooking Bogo and offers great views.  There are 100 steps leading to the shrine from the hiway but there is also a barangay road leading to the shrine at the back also for those unable to climb the stairs.  The original shrine is in Paris, France and many miracles are associated with the medals from the original image.  There is a very spiritual atmosphere here and you may light a candle and say a prayer.  Definately worth a visit.

Virgen De Los Remedios, Odlot, Bogo City, 30 km or 30 min.

Our Lady of Remedies, Odlot, Bogo City, Cebu, PhilippinesOur Lady of Remedies, Odlot, Bogo City, Cebu, Philippines
Our Lady of Remedios Parish Church in Odlot, Bogo features the images of Our Lady of the Remedios (Remedies), San Paplo (Saint Paul) and San Pedro (Saint Peter) that were cought by fishermen with their nets in the sea near the current parish church.  The Parish Church was founded in 1980 and many healings have taken place in this parish church.  Mother Mary is reported to have shed tears.  There is a healing mass every Wednesday and the priest gives credit to God for the healings.  The church is undergoing expansion and the facade will be finished soon.

Santa Rosa Church, Poblacion, Daanbantayan, 10 km or 10 min.

The Santa Rosa Parish Church in Daanbantayan (also known as a colonial church) was established in 1860 and is one of the oldest in the Philippines.  The church is built of coral stones and has been resored on the inside to some degree.  Really worth a visit, as the town still has the typical Spanish lay-out for a town with the church on one side of the plaza and the municipality on the other side.  There are very few (Spanish) colonial era churches left in Cebu as most have been replaced with newer buildings.

Malapascua Island, Daanbantayan, 30 km or 60 min.

Malapascua Island, Daanbantayan, Cebu, PhilippinesMalapascua Island, Daanbantayan, Cebu, Philippines
Malapascua Island (Barangay Logan of Daanbantayan) is a small island that features white sand beaches and scuba diving featuring thrasher sharks and ship wrecks and makes a great day trip from Virgin Beach Resort.  We also have our large motorized banca that can take you there in about one hour in calm seas.  The pier is in Maya, Daanbantayan and the crossing from Maya takes about 30 minutes in calm seas.  There are no ships or ferries going to Malapascua and the native pumpboats are not made for windy weather and guests have been stuck on the island when boats cannot operate.

Bantayan Island via Hagnaya, San Remegio, 40 km or 90 min.

Known for its white sand beaches and annual festival during Holy Week where the Passion of Christ is re-enacted, Bantayan Island is only 30 minutes by ferry from Hagnaya Port in San Remegio.  It makes an easy day trip from Virgin Beach Resort and offers fresh sea food, reasonable overnight accommodations in countless resorts and of course, respite from the rushing hectic life of Cebu City.  Our staff can drop you off for the ferry boat and pick you up when you return.

Mercedes Golf Course, Dayhagon, Medellin, 10 km, 10 min.

Mercedes Golf CourseMercedes Golf Course
A pro world class golf course is located only about 10 km or 10 minutes from Virgin Beach Resort.  Emmaculate grounds feature 18 holes, a driving range, practice putting area, club house and full service golf.  Prices are a little high compared to the U.S., but if you're a golf nut, you'll want to make this a day trip from Virgin Beach Resort.  Have Junior call ahead and make a reservation for you and we hope you make a hole in one!

Bogo Medellin Sugar Mill, Luy-a, Medellin, 15 km, 15 min.

Bogo Medellin Sugar MillBogo Medellin Sugar Mill
The BoMedCo Sugar Mill is open for tours if you'd like to know more about how sugar is made from the vast hectares of sugar cane grown here in the northern part of Cebu.  Harvest season is from December to June and all the product is cut by hand.  By product of pressed board and alcohol are also pruduced at this plant. Almost 1/2 million tons of brown sugar are produced here annually.  A World War II tank stands guard at the mill.

Capitancillo, Nailon, Bogo City, 30 km, 60 min.

Capitancillo Islet, Bogo City, Cebu, PhilippinesCapitancillo Islet, Bogo City, Cebu, Philippines
Capitancillo is a small islet that houses an automatic solar light house and the light can be seen from the kiosko by the sea at Virgin Beach Resort at night.  It is only about 8 km from Nailon Point in Bogo City but easly reached by our large pumpboat in calm seas in about one hour.  Great place for scuba diving, but only experienced divers as the current can be very strong.  Ask Junior to pack a picnic lunch and take an island hopping cruise.

Haunted Cemetery, Lambusan, San Remegio, 25 km, 25 min.

Haunted Cemetery, Lambusan, San Remegio, CebuHaunted Cemetery, Lambusan, San Remegio, Cebu
Many public cemeteries have "nitsos" that are rented by the deceased's family for one year and when the year is up, the bones are stacked in a common area.  Lambusan Cemetery is among the poorest in the Northern Cebu area and it is quite common to see skulls and bones everywhere.  If you're into the haunted, you will enjoy this day trip.

  1. Those photos are spectacular... and such a perfect place to enjoy skiing. This place is really so amazing I am a traveler but you just made me realized how weak my exploration when it comes to travel destination.
